EBRPHA Hosts Cancer Screening Event to Promote Community Wellness

October 13, 2026

Held during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this event connected community members to free cancer screenings and preventive health resources.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Housing Authority (EBRPHA) partnered with Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, Woman's Hospital, and Access for All (ABCF) to host a free cancer screening event at EBRPHA's administrative offices.

The event brought breast, colorectal, and skin cancer screening services directly to the community through Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center's Prevention on the Go program. Held during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the initiative highlighted the importance of prevention, early detection, and access to care.

By offering screenings in an accessible and familiar location, the event helped connect residents and community members with important preventive healthcare services and information. Participants also had the opportunity to learn more about cancer prevention, available health resources, and the benefits of routine screenings.

Supporting strong communities goes beyond housing. Partnerships with organizations like Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, Woman's Hospital, and Access for All help expand access to services that promote overall health and well-being.

EBRPHA extends its appreciation to all partners, staff, volunteers, and participants who helped make the event a success. Through continued collaboration, EBRPHA remains committed to supporting opportunities that improve quality of life and strengthen communities across East Baton Rouge Parish.
