Tech Ready
EBRPHA partnered with EBR Schools to get Chromebooks, tablets and hotspots to families of 700 children who lacked devices for virtual learning.

East Baton Rouge Parish Housing Authority (EBRPHA) is partnering with the East Baton Rouge Parish School System to provide tech tools for virtual learning for the families of 700 children who lack digital devices and access or have limited access to internet connections necessary for online learning. EBRPHA employees conducted a door-to-door campaign to assess device and broadband needs. EBR Schools worked closely with EBRPHA and allowed Housing Authority officials to receive Chromebooks, tablets, and hotspots and distribute them to its residents to ensure efficient delivery and address transportation challenges.
Backpacks for Kids
During the difficult uncertainty of COVID-19 EBRPHA were able to create educational opportunities for our families and their children. We were able to team up with EBR Schools to equip children within our communities with backpacks with built-in USB ports. These backpacks were made available through the use of The CARE Funds; this also helped with supplying CARE Packages. Along with the provided backpacks, children were supplied with hand sanitizer, reusable masks, headphones, and mouse pads. Our team worked effortlessly to provide needs and safety to our area families. All of our families’ communities held distributions and pick-ups for these supplies.
